I am one of those dreaded masses, the coffee-hoarding, late-night working, half-carpenter half-light technician breed from the seedy underbelly of society. A drama major. Oftentimes people who hear this disgraceful truth are quick to tut and shake their heads in sympathy. "Can't do anything else?" they ask, feigning kindness but doing an altogether poor job of it. (I'm an actor, I can tell.) And no, I cannot do anything else.

I write fanfiction to keep the creative energy flowing during a lull, like summer for instance. Sometimes, it's to keep my sanity when there's too MUCH energy flowing into one particular thing, such as when I'm performing in a play or working on a project that involves extreme attention to very specific details. Fanfiction is my escape from reality, one of many, and one of the hatches I've been sliding under the longest. I fell into the rabbit hole in 2001, when I was 12 years old and have been reading/writing ever since--it's like a drug. Sometimes I go through periods when I don't need to write, when I'm fine without it--other times the urge can actually drive me insane if there isn't a computer near enough. I type faster than I think a lot of the time (around 130 words per minute), so it's hard for me to slow down enough to use a pen and paper; I definitely admire authors who write EVERYTHING by hand before transferring it to a technological format. They are heroes, for sure.
